Escaping Europe just after the start of World War II, the late Bobby Vogel, patriarch of the Vogel dynasty, started out as a diamond polisher.
Working long hours to support his parents and sibling, Bobby moved up the ranks in the diamond industry to become a De Beers sightholder and eventually established the business in 1953, manufacturing jewellery in the heart of Hatton Garden.
Bobby was known in the Garden as the “go-to man” for help, advice and even at times as the mediator. He was a role model to all who knew him.
In the 60’s he established a diamond setting training school, offering youngsters the chance to learn a trade and setting them up in business. His charity work was all encompassing and wide reaching.
Four of Bobby’s sons inherited his love for diamond jewellery and joined him in the business and although the business moved premises a few times in the last 65 years, one thing that remains unchanged is its location in Hatton Garden, the heartbeat of the UK diamond industry.
With time, the business grew and evolved. Today, N.Vogel & Sons Ltd are one of the leading suppliers of fine jewellery to the trade, sourcing diamonds and gemstones from across the globe.
